Paris Proposal Ideas — How to Choose the Right Setup

Residential Sablon rooftop proposal in Paris at sunset with big red love heart, red carpet, silk floral arrangements in Medici gold vases on clear pedestals, and flameless candles overlooking the lit Eiffel Tower

Most Paris proposals start with one of four main setups — a private rooftop, a private boat on the Seine, a public location, or a styled picnic — and can be layered with video, live music, transport, champagne, or hotel room décor.

This guide compares the four setup types Events in Paris runs, explains the trade-offs, and shows which combinations work in practice.

Rooftop, boat, and public proposal packages include silk flowers, a photographer, a custom playlist on premium speakers, and a team on the ground handling setup and cleanup. See full inclusions below.

Also available: hotel room décor from €400 — usually paired with one of the setups above as a pre-arrival surprise or post-proposal celebration. Can also work as a standalone gesture.

At a glance: Most private → rooftop or boat. Lowest starting price → public location. Best for daytime → picnic. Best in cold or wet months → rooftop or boat. Best second reveal → hotel room décor.

If you only skim one section, read “How to Choose” below — it narrows the field in under a minute.

Privacy narrows the list fastest. After that: budget, time of day, and season. You do not need to have it all figured out before you reach out — a general direction is enough.

You want full privacy. Private rooftop or private boat. The rooftop is stationary with a fixed Eiffel Tower view. The boat moves and adds a reveal as you pass the Tower. These are the two setups our privacy-focused couples choose most often.

You want the lowest starting price. Public locations start at €1,400 and still deliver an Eiffel Tower backdrop with a photographer. At the other end, the Private Champagne Yacht at €3,500 is the most premium setup we offer. Hotel room décor starts at €400 as a complementary gesture.

You care most about time of day. Boats run noon through past sunset. Rooftops are strongest late afternoon through early evening, or after dark with pro lighting. Public spots are best early morning (fewer people) or at sunset. Picnics are daytime only.

You are visiting in a colder month. Rooftops and boats run year-round. Public locations and picnics are weather-dependent — strongest from April through October.

You are worried about weather. Boats run in rain. Rooftops can be moved indoors at some venues. Bir-Hakeim bridge has overhead cover. Picnics are the most exposed.

You are not sure. WhatsApp us with your date, budget, and what your partner is like. We match you to the right setup.

Planning a ceremony, not just a proposal? Our elopement packages start at €2,500 and use the same rooftop, boat, and public locations — with an officiant and ceremony added.

Many of the calmest proposals we see have one main reveal and one private follow-up. The main setup carries the surprise; the follow-up extends the celebration after dinner.

Rooftop + hotel room décor. The most popular combination. Propose on the private rooftop at sunset, go to dinner, and return to a decorated room. Two separate reveals, one evening.

Boat + hotel room décor. The boat carries the proposal and the river backdrop; the room carries the private celebration afterward.

Public proposal + hotel room décor. Propose at a public Eiffel Tower spot, then retreat to a private, decorated space. This offsets the public proposal with a controlled private setting.

Picnic + evening rooftop or boat. A daytime picnic as the first layer, then a different reveal at sunset or after dark. Works for couples spending a full day together where the proposer wants a relaxed lead-in before the main surprise.

A single rooftop, boat, or public setup is complete on its own. Combinations add a second reveal, not a requirement.

On-location proposal packages include silk flowers, a photographer, a custom playlist, and full setup and cleanup by our team. Everything else is priced separately, so you can see the total spend before you message us.
